I am a counseling psychology master's student at Chatham University. For over a decade I have worked as a translator and became interested in the helping professions in recent years. Through both my studies and personal experiences, I have developed a passion for psychoanalytic and psychodynamic approaches. I am particularly drawn to their rich accounts of the complexities of human existence and techniques like free association, both of which help us delve deeper into our psyches, gain insight, and ultimately create meaningful change. I am especially interested in working with expecting and new parents. Also, my cross-cultural and academic experiences in both Japan and the United States have heightened my awareness of how broader social forces and identities shape people's lives—a perspective I strive to bring to my therapy work.
